House Officers are permitted fourteen (14) days ( two 7 day weeks, including weekends) of non-cumulative paid sick leave per year for illness or injury of the House Officer or for an immediate family member (approved HR/GMEC January 20. 2022). . Sick leave may not be accumulated or carried forward into subsequent academic/appointment years. Extended sick leave without pay is allowable, at the discretion of the Department or as may be required by applicable law.
House Officers are eligible to use sick leave for an immediate family member which is definedas a spouse, parent, or chiild of house officer.
