Pager Information

The Graduate Medical Education Office provides pagers to all LSUHSC New Orleans House Officers with service in Louisiana and Mississippi. The pager unit rental and monthly service fees are paid by the GME Office.  Each House Officer is responsible for their assigned pager.

Replace a Broken Pager

Broken and malfunctioning pagers can be swapped for a replacement at no cost.  Contact the Blakemore, Sara to arrange for a replacement.  Replacement pagers will have the same number as the original pager.

For a broken pager case, bring the pager to the Blakemore, Sara.  There is no charge to replace a broken case, but the pager does need to be brought to the GME office.  There are multiple styles of pagers, and bringing the physical pager is the only way to ensure receiving the correct replacement case.

Requesting New Pager Service

To request a new pager with new service, contact the GME Office.  New Service should be requested no earlier than one month before the House Officer begins the program.  Ashley will need to know of any necessary special features required (toll free number, nationwide access, etc).  Once processed, the new pager will show up in the program's pager listing, and can be assigned to the user.

Pager Management

Pagers are managed online through the GME Pager Database.  The database allows program coordinators to view all pagers assigned to their program, assign pagers to new users, and look up pager information.

Replace a Lost Pager

If a House Officer loses their pager they will be responsible for paying the lost pager fee of $55.20.  It can be paid by personal check or cashiers check payable to LSUHSC.  Cash is not accepted.  If a pager previously reported as lost is found, it may be returned to the GME Office, and the lost pager fee will be refunded to the House Officer who paid it. If the fee cannot be collected from the House Officer, the department will be responsible for the lost collection fee.

Contact the Blakemore, Sara to arrange for a replacement.

Assign Pager to New User

Pagers can be assigned to new users online by using the GME Pager Database.  Pagers are usually reassigned from Outgoing House Officers to Incoming House Officers in preparation for a new academic year, but they may be swapped at any time.  See Assign Pager to New User for instructions.

Note:  All pagers left in possession of outgoing House Officers will be disconnected and the department will be charged the lost pager fee.
