Ochsner Update: March 6, 2020

As the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) continues to send updates with the potential spread on the COVID-19 in the United States. Ochsner's top priority is to maintain a healthy, safe and stable environment for our patients, employees, their families, as well as our community. Ochsner has implemented a proactive policy and would ask our sponsoring institutions to assist in ensuring compliance.  As of March 5, 2020, the travel warnings apply to China, Iran, Italy, Japan and South Korea. We expect that this list will change as the situation develops. The appropriate protocol is recommended per CDC guidelines. If you travel to one of the affected areas with widespread or sustained community transmission as designated by the CDC, upon return you will be required to stay under home quarantine for 14 days and self-monitor for symptoms, even if you are asymptomatic.

Ochsner has set in place the below current policy until further notice:

  • Postpone all non-essential domestic and international business travel until further notice
  • Discourage people traveling remotely via air travel for non-essential site visits to Ochsner until further notice

We ask that if any of your residents/fellows fall into the above category who are currently rotating/or scheduled to rotate at Ochsner/Ochsner managed facilities to let us know immediately.
Please reach out to the Ochsner GME office if you have any further questions/concerns - Amber Lundsgaard- Nikolic at 504-842-4937.
