NRMP / The Match

System Name:

NRMP (National Resident Matching Program) / The Match

Used By:

Program Directors and Coordinators

GME Contact:Yolanda Lundsgaard

Purpose:

The NRMP uses a mathematical algorithm to place applicants into residency and fellowship positions.  The algorithm is “applicant-proposing”, meaning the preferences expressed on the rank order lists submitted by applicants, not programs, initiate placement into residency training.

Website:

Access System:

All NRMP® Matches are managed through the NRMP®’s Registration, Ranking, and Results® (R3®)system. The R3® system can be accessed directly at https://r3.nrmp.org/viewLoginPage or by clicking the orange “Register/Login for a Match” button in the right menu bar on every page of www.nrmp.org.

NEW COORDINATORS AND DIRECTORS

New program directors and program coordinators are added as NRMP users, by the Institutional Official/DIO or Institutional Administrator/GME Coordinator handling NRMP duties, when Program Director or Program Coordinator are appointed to those respective positions.  When registration opens, programs will receive emails as outlined below.

NEW USERS

First-time users will receive an email on the day Match registration opens that contains an R3® system token link. Users who have not yet received a token link or who have difficulty redeeming the token should contact NRMP at support@nrmp.org for assistance.  View Token Redemption and Registration for New Users

During registration, users must create a permanent unique username and password for the R3®system. This information belongs to the individual, not the institution, program, or medical school, and it is a violation of the Match Participation Agreement if a user allows another individual to use personal login credentials to access the R3® system.

RETURNING USERS

Returning users will receive a welcome email form NRMP on the day Match registration opens.  Credentials for institution, program, and school users carries over from previous Matches. Returning users must log in to the R3 system to complete registration. View Token Redemption for Existing R3 Users
