IV.B. Compensation, Including Gratis and Self-Funded Positions
Compensation is provided consistent with the pay scale recommended by the Graduate Medical Education Committee. Gratis appointments, including self-funded are not permitted in ACGME approved training Programs. Trainees on J-1 visas are not permitted to be in gratis or self-funded positions. In extenuating circumstances, the Dean may make exceptions to this policy. GMEC July 2005
House Officer level and compensation is based on a trainee successfully completing all requirements for academic promotion to the next PGY level. House Officers not academically promoted or who must repeat all or part of a year prior to academic promotion will be paid at the current PGY level until academically promoted by the Program.
